I started doing 25.00 a month into my savings account. It's little but it adds up.

I love the $1000 project - you save and find other ways of making money until you reach $1000 and then you put that on your credit card, or loan or mortgage, etc. Every time you don’t spend money - say a dinner with friends is cancelled and you had budgeted $50 for it - you transfer that to the savings. I’ve also divided my disposable income (after bills) into a daily allowance per fortnightly paycheck - if I come in under, the leftover for that day goes to savings. If I come in over, I have to be frugal until I’m back to my daily budget for that fortnight. It’s amazing to see how fast I can get to $1000 by just considering what I buy and making better choices.

Hi Carrie, thanks for this!
Could you make one about investing? As a young woman I find it quite difficult to approach financial investments and I'd be curious to know about your experience and if have any tips about how to start. Also, so very excited about the podcast, and can't wait to listen!

I have been spending wayyy too much money on things I most definitely don’t need over the past three or so months and I know it’s because life’s been a little difficult lately and I use it as a means to kind of make me feel something positive which is saaad, haha. I’m gonna watch this video every day now until I get better at NOT doing that!

Loved the “rethink your luxuries” concept. Something I really want to start incorporating in my lifestyle. Thank you!

Read the Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey in October on a flight to Japan and it totally changed my life. It kick started my journey to being debt free! Carrie if you haven’t read that book or listened to his podcast I highly recommend it. Life changing! Loved this video so much. I’ve gotten into the habit of listening to all things money to help motivate me in my journey! Love you! You’re my favorite!

im honestly pretty crazy with my savings, I save about 50% or more of my income. I only leave enough money in my checking account for that months budget and transfer everything else to savings. I know maybe not everyone can do something that drastic but I just automatically think of saving instead of spending my money.

Do you listen to Dave Ramsey? His book and podcast changed my life. Everything is based on your income as the only wealth building tool. If you can’t pay with cash then you can’t afford it. He has a great budget app called Everydollar.
You are following a lot of the principles already!

Its so good to hear when people stop getting their coffee in Starbucks or whatever. It’s much more environmentally friendly also to stop drinking out of all of those plastic cups and straws. Plus homemade coffe is just so much better. Love you!

I am so happy this is a new interest of mine and that budgeting is so interesting. We have student loan dept but only pay the minimum since the interest is 0.15% and our savings account have 0.75% interest, so we earn more by saving than paying. But we do pay every month anyway because we have to. We also have a mortgage on our appartment but doing well there.
I really want to earn extra to get rid of dept but haven't found anything that work yet.

Loved this video! I'm going through the same thing essentially (26 yrs old, moved out at 23, paid for everything on a CC, lived way outside my means, didn't pay my student loans when I should have...), now I live with my boyfriend and we are trying to figure out where our money is going and why we both have so much debt between us! How did you and your significant other come up with a spending and savings plan that made you both happy?

So glad you’ve made all these amazing changes! I’ve started to rethink my purpose and bad money management has no place in it. I’ve become a little frugal and appreciate and have gratitude for the small things.

I do not own credit cards, loans or any debt and I am really against it, unless there is a desperate situation. We are saving up for the house and it will take us another 5 years to save up for the house, that we will pay in cash ))) thanks to my parents, who taught me how to handle finances since early age 😊

Love this video Carrie! As a recent college grad, suddenly having student loan debt and new responsibilities like rent, car payments etc makes saving really difficult. Would love to see a video about how to make money on YouTube/making money through side hustles!
