Politics: Crash Course Sociology #30

  • 🎬 Video
  • ℹ️ Description
While politics is generally seen as the domain of a civics class (and Craig did a great job of teaching US Government & Politics elsewhere on this channel!) it’s something that sociology is interested in too. Today we’re looking at the sociological approach to politics, different types of authority and political systems, and different sociological theories of power.

Equating liberalism to left and conservatism to right is a myopic view of politics.

Outside the United States, the political spectrum is much wider and more diverse. Liberalism is considered rather center to center-right while conservatism is seen as solid right. We should also acknowledge right-libertarianism and socialism (both authoritarian and libertarian forms).

This is decent educational material, but some of the things you said about the right in the left are very subjective, especially when you defined them.
