Is Speaking Out Worth Lost Jobs & Friends? | Bridget Phetasy | POLITICS | Rubin Report

  • 🎬 Video
  • ℹ️ Description
Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Bridget Phetasy (Comedian and Podcast Host) about Dave’s embracing of his wake-up call in the second chapter of “Don’t Burn This Book”. Dave has met many people who have told him that they are afraid of speaking their mind for fear of losing their jobs or friends and live in “political closets”. The social media outrage mob and cancel culture has made it risky to speak what were once considered centrist political opinions. Dave shares his personal story of how he and others like James Damore and Lindsay Shepherd have come out the other side stronger for not having the beliefs that their peers expected them to have.

Is the state of US news driving you crazy? Does the coverage of political news rarely seem “fair and balanced”? Serious discussions on US politics is vital to having a healthy democracy. No matter what political party you belong to, we need to be able to hear a variety of political perspectives. I lost a friend last week for saying that as a person of mixed race I find identity politics to be divisive and dangerous, and that I prefer to think of people first as individuals with whom I share a common humanity. Point proven, I guess.

The comparison is kind of funny. Coming out as gay in a Red state in the past was a larger experience where now coming out as a conservative in a Blue state is incredibly difficult.

If speaking out cost you "friends" then they where not friends in the first place, if you lose your job did you really want to work in such a place!

If you aren't going to live your life by your beliefs, you aren't living.

The only person I have to impress is me.
Any lost friends weren’t really friends in the first place.

*Me:* "Guys, I've got something to tell you..I'm coming out of the clo-"

*they interrupt me* "Omg, that's so brave! You're coming out as gay? How amazing is that?!"

*Me:* "No, no, you got it all wrong..I'm coming out as a Conservative"

*Them:* "Oh you sack of sh*t, F*g...I hope you die in a car accident, you racist, bigoted, piece of sh*t"..

I sorta imagine that's about how it

The older you get, you just don’t care what people say to you or about you. I’m true to myself and that’s all that matters, by the way, I love who I am! Have a wonderful day, all the best to both.

Author — Betty Gibson

they weren't your friends if they leave you. The left has proven to be intolerant, violent, condescending and arrogant.

Lost my job 2 yrs ago after working in Canada's parliament for 18 yrs, I was pinched for defending gun owners rights and the plotting of the gun grab

Welcome to the new conservative party, we don't care what color your skin is, who you sleep with or what religion you practice. All we want is less government (less taxes), strong military, and for everybody stay away from all of my God given rights, all of them!!

I've lost quite a few friend over politics and COVID this year. They're comfortable with the Nanny State unfortunately :/

People are cowards. They dont want to think for themselves.

You can't lose real friends sir. Jobs come and go. Real friends are for life. If you speak up and someone turns on you they never had your back in the first place.

When my LGBTQ friends found out I voted for Brexit it was difficult but when they found out I was also a conservative voter, I lost ALL of them! They won’t answer my calls or messages, if I see them in public they literally go out of their way to avoid me and if I’m honest, it really hurt!! Being a gay conservative in my city, which is highly activist and packed with far-left voters, is just impossible and my son said that they weren’t really true friends and I eventually got over it but these guys were my only friends so now I have no one to hang out with so it’s disappointing and majorly depressing but I will NOT change for anyone!! (Well, if a cute guy wants to move in then maybe I’ll change a little) 😱😱😱🙄🙄🙄😎😎😎 good video, this needs to be discussed more often!! ❤️❤️❤️

Don't worry Dave, you could never trick me into being pro-choice! I love you anyway. You've already gone a long way in your journey. As an ex-abortionist, I have gone even further.

"Something has taken over on the Left that is decimating the whole thing". Absolutely. That "something" is Cultural Marxism. The Left is now a Marxist ideology based political view point. They stand up for and promote Chinese Communist Party rhetoric. They side with Cultural Marxist politically correct narratives. There is no other way to describe them.

James Demore did NOT get “laid off”. A “layoff” is a specific kind of job termination that is due to a reduction in the employer’s labor force. This was not the case. He was “fired”, meaning “terminated for cause”. I disagree with the “cause” Google cited, but using the correct terminology is important ... as your year with J Peterson probably pointed out.

I've been a whistleblower in years past and I'm still doing it now, even if it means losing friends. Telling the truth is essential.

YES it's worth it. That's how you fight this stupid anti-free speech backlash.
